What You Will Do

As an associate with St. John Health-MI, you will have the opportunity to perform a variety of duties related to the operation of the animal laboratory according to specific standards and established procedures.

You will:

  • Performs cleaning and sanitizing of cages, pens and rooms. Disposes of waste materials. Maintains animal holding areas in a manner consistent with hospital policy and Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) standards.

  • Provides for the needs of all laboratory animals including the preparation of special diets, regular feeding, watering and general handling so the animals become accustomed to human contact.

  • Provides some post-operative treatment and care. May assist with necropsies.

  • Assists with the maintenance of quality control procedures and quality control charts applicable to the variety of tests performed and laboratory policies.

  • Performs all other duties and projects as assigned.

What You Will Need


  • Preferred Credential(s):

  • Licensed Veterinary Technician preferred.


  • Unknown Degree

  • Completion of an AVMA accredited program for veterinary technicians required, or commensurate animal research experience required

Work Experience:

  • 1 year of experience in animal laboratory procedures and techniques required.
